Student Volunteer Services

St Jude Children’s Research Hospital is a wonderful organization with a mission to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment.  Here at PC, an event known as “Up ‘Till Dawn” is held every year to raise money and awareness for this cause.

For more information about “Up ‘Till Dawn” and ways to become involved, please contact Nicole Siciliano (nsicilian@presby.edu).

In the words of founder Danny Thomas, “No child should die in the dawn of life.”  The goal of St. Jude is to increase the overall childhood cancer survival rate to 100% and with your help we can make a difference!  Thank you for your support.

Mark your calendars!

Friday, September 25th is the first dress down day of the year! In order to participate, you must pay $2 to your class representative (class president) at the beginning of the day to receive your sticker. All proceeds are benefiting a local non-profit organization, Bearing the Burden. Bearing the Burden provides daily essentials and goodies to chemotherapy patients at local hospitals. Just a friendly reminder, the dress code consists of jeans and a t-shirt. Don't forget to wear your sticker where it is visible, and to dress down for a GREAT cause!

Community Health Fair

The Health Fair that is usually held at the YMCA in March after the March on Health 5k has been moved to a Clinton High School home football game sometime this fall.

Over the past couple of years, it has been the faculty who have taken on the majority of the planning and coordinating duties for the Health Fair. This year, students will be carrying out the coordination of the Health Fair.

The main responsibilities will include working with Clinton High School to determine a date for the Health Fair, working out logistics of where the Pharmacy Organizations will set up their tables, and advertising the Health Fair to the Community.  If you are interested in being part of the committee that helps organize the health fair, please email me(jmdias@presby.edu) so I can provide you with more details. This is an excellent leadership opportunity and a great way to help provide health services to the community.

The Health Fair date and location was changed in an attempt to reach more of the community by going to where the people already are instead of trying to get people to come to us.

For those of you unfamiliar with the Health Fair, the pharmacy student organizations set up tables to help promote healthy lifestyles and screenings to members of the community.  Feel free to talk to the student organization leaders during the Campus Life Fair this week for more information on what each organization offers at the Health Fair.

Kappa Epsilon

We hope everyone had a great first week! Make sure to see us this week at the Campus Life Fair this week for information and goodies! We look forward to meeting each of you!
