CFA lunch will be provided Wednesday, November 4th for those who sign up (Sheets will be passed around in class Monday and Tuesday)
Cost $7 (money MUST be in by TUESDAY)
Lunch includes: CFA sandwich, chips and water

November 6th:

SSHP Annual Cornhole Tournament / Chili Cook-off
Come out to enjoy a good time, great food, and show support for RMH.
Details: $8 to eat, $8 per person to enter the tournament, $12 for both
Cornhole Tournament: winners will EACH receive a set of PC Cornhole Boards
Chili-Cookoff: winner will receive a prize!

CPNP


Sunday, November 1st we will be volunteering at the annual Whitten Center Motor Cycle ride in downtown Clinton. Members are needed for set up, serving food, and clean up. This event will count for GAP community service hours. If anyone is interested please email Rachel Stelling at restellin@presby.edu

Big/Little Week is here!

-If you signed up to be a little, please check the mailroom each day on Monday (10/26), Tuesday (10/27), and Wednesday (10/28) for treats from your new BIG!

-Big/Little Reveal will be on Thursday (10/29) in Lecture Hall 271 from 6-7 PM. Please arrive wearing the clothing item left in your mailbox from your BIG (BIGs, remember to wear your matching item so your little can find you)!

-We will meet next Monday (November 2) at 12 pm for our monthly meeting (room TBD) to discuss upcoming events (Adopt-A-Highway, etc.) and initiation.

Thanks to everyone that came out to the October meeting.  Our next meeting will be held Wednesday, November 18th.

October 28-30 – Generation Rx will be participating in Red Ribbon Week this coming Wednesday-Friday.  Look for the poster boards set up (one upstairs + one downstairs) about awareness and advocacy for drug prevention.  Help yourselves to the bowl of candy that will be set up!  More information about Red Ribbon Week can be found here http://redribbon.org/about/.

PC Student Volunteer Services


·         St Jude Children’s Research Hospital is a wonderful organization with a mission to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment.  Here at PC, an event known as “Up ‘Till Dawn” is held every year to raise money and awareness for this cause.  Please register at www.stjude.org/utd  to start fundraising today! 

·         If you are interested in volunteering for the Laurens County Humane Society please go to www.laurenshumane.org to fill out a volunteer application.

·         SVS to Host Dance Marathon for Charity:  Hose for Hope and Delete Blood Cancer are hosting a dance marathon at Springs Gym on Friday, Nov. 6. The doors will be open at 6 p.m. and the event will start at 6:20 p.m. Couples will swing dance together until they "drop out," and the last couple standing wins a prize! The event is $10 per couple and $5 per single dancer. If you don't have a date, we'll match you with one for the evening! All the proceeds are helping fund Delete Blood Cancer's typing event and sending Hose for Hope's teams to the Hope Relay this year! See you at Springs Gym!

Halloween Dress Down Day


Halloween dress down day!  Contain your excitement and start thinking about what you are going to dress up as on Friday, October 30th. The dress down day will cost $2 per person. The proceeds will be going to the Laurens county humane society. We are a professional community, so keep that in mind when you are thinking about your costume;

Appropriate: hats, face paint, whiskers, fingertip length shorts/skirts/dresses.


Not appropriate: masks, spandex, strapless tops, alcohol or illicit drug related costumes, fake/real weapons of any kind (guns, laser guns, swords, staffs). 

CPNP Upcoming Events



Thanks to everyone who played trivia with us last week and wore green on Wednesday to show support for Mental Health Awareness. The participation was great and much appreciated! 

Members: We will combine with SSHP for the October meeting on October 19th at 12 pm in room 104 due to our guest speaker having to cancel. PLEASE FILL OUT THE SURVEY MONKEY SENT TO YOU BY ABBY CASE IN ORDER TO GET YOUR LUNCH ORDERED. 

Other news: 
- the social event scheduled for Oct 17th has been cancelled due to work conflicts. Another event is TBD 
- thank you to all the volunteer for signing up for the health fair... see you on the October 23rd for carbon monoxide testing!! 
- Whitten Center sign up sheet will be passed around during October meeting please sign up then if you are interested in volunteering on November 1st 

Thornwell Halloween Carnival


The carnival is going to be Friday, October 30 from 4-6pm!

Every year the Thornwell Home for Children across the street from the main campus has a halloween carnival for all the kids. The carnival consists of a bunch of tables set up with games for them to play to win candy and small prizes! This is a great opportunity to put smiles on the children's faces and volunteer with the community. 

The volunteer work will mainly consist of working the games and helping with set up and clean up. The Carnival lasts from 4 to 6pm on October 30th. It will be located in front of Springs on main campus (the same place it was last year for those of you who were there). You do not have to stay for the whole time but we ask that you stay for at least an hour so that you get your non pharmacy related service hour for the year.

October 21st - Our second chapter meeting of the year will be held in room 104 (and room 140 for back-flow) at 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM.  We will be presenting our first JAM award. We will also be graced with the presence of our guest speaker Pam Whitmire, PharmD, MHSA, FAPhA.  Dr. Whitmire is the Pharmacy & Risk Manager at Southwest Carolina Treatment Center, Regional Experiential Education Coordinator at South University, and has a diverse collection of experiences and awards/honors within the realm of pharmacy.  Lunch will be provided.

October 23rd - APhA-ASP memebers will be performing blood glucose checks at CHS Homecoming Health Fair from about 5:30-8:30 PMWe are in great need of five (5) volunteers for blood glucose testing. A check off will be required before participating in this event via Dr. Ward.  Please Contact Judith Gomes at jcgomes@presby.edu for more information.

NCPA Chapter Meeting


Our next chapter meeting will be this Monday, October 19th at 12pm in room 144. Lunch will be provided. Our speaker for this meeting is Ben Coakley. He is a financial advisor for Waypoint. He recently went to NCPA's Annual Convention in Washington, DC to speak about how to financially help out independent pharmacies. Please join us on Monday to learn more about savings and strategies to get out of debt after graduation.

The last CED event of the semester is scheduled for November 5 at 6 pm.  John Pugh, pharmacist and owner of Prosperity Drug, will share his experience of ownership soon after graduation and how to be successful with an independent today.  Please RSVP to Dr. Shealy (kmshealy@presby.edu) if you plan to attend by October 28.

Health Fair



The health fair this year is going to be at the Clinton High School homecoming football game on October 23rd. The health fair will start at 6pm and last until about 8pm. The stadium is located at the old Clinton high school (which is the current Clinton middle school). We will have tables set up outside the stadium. 

Several pharmacy student organizations will have tables set up at the game providing health screenings and education to the people at the game.  This is a great opportunity to get service hours! If you are interested in volunteering please contact the president of your student organization to sign up.

October 14th - Carbon Monoxide Monitor Training will be held for APhA-ASP members by Dr. Ward in the Wellness Center from 12pm-1pm.  Remember to complete the required Moodle training before the active training (Under the "Student Compliance Training" tab).

The spookiest time of the year is quickly approaching and that can only mean one thing. Halloween dress down day!  Contain your excitement and start thinking about what you are going to dress up as on Friday,  October 30th! The dress down day will cost $2 per person. The proceeds will be going to the Laurens county humane society. Next week we will provide guidelines for what is and isn't okay to wear but for now just remember that we are a professional community. So keep that in mind when you are thinking about your costume.

Mental Health Awareness Day is October 10th... to celebrate this week we will be playing trivia on Tuesday and Thursday. Questions will  be posted on the board in rooms 104 and 271. Submit correct answers and you will have a chance to win prizes!

Wednesday will also be wear GREEN day to show support! Everyone wearing green please meet us on the front lawn at 12pm to take a picture!

Thank you for participating in our 1st annual Pig Pickin’! The event was a HUGE success! Don’t forget to vote all week for your favorite Miss Pig Pickin’ contestant by putting change in the buckets which will be located in the student cafe.
 This week is also Breast Cancer Awareness Week! We will be having several special events to celebrate.

Asten Johnson Flu Clinic: There will be immunization opportunities on October 4th and 5th (Sunday and Monday).

MRM in Nashveill, TN from October 16-18: If you plan on attending MRM and still do not have registered, there are only 27 spots available as of October 1! So get registered ASAP.  Note: Travel funding has ended for this period, but this event will be worth it!
